Blazing hot summer in Kolkata, due to the hectic schedule and stressful life we all desperately need a break. So you are planning for a weekend trip....!!! The question is, where to go...??? There are many places can come in your mind but you can choose Mandermony as your destination overall suburb. As it is less crowded sea beach among Digha and Puri, the most tranquil sea-beach in The West Bengal. 

The calm and composed ambiance of this place takes you at a different level. If you want to go away from hustle bustle of the daily city life and want to spend some time in front of a lonely sea beach, and want to see how the silky sand glittered as it cheerfully reflected the rays of sun, how the transparent clear water expanded far into the skyline getting deeper and darker, nevertheless sustaining tranquility effortlessly. As you want to breathe some fresh air, to hear the sound of sea waves and want to enjoy the delicate splashes of the sea and would not mind allocating few days in a less publicized zone with your family or with your friends, then Mandermony could be a good option for you.

We Packed our bags and did the last minute preparations. We started our voyage towards a serene beach situated on the coast of the Bay of Bengal ...Mandermani, you can call it a seaside resort village nearby Kolkata. As we all know, Mandarmony Beach is  the longest motorable beach in India. It is located in East Midnapur district of West Bengal and at the end of the north of the Bay of Bengal. It is near about 180 km from Kolkata- Dumdum airport.

How to reach: Mandermony can be reached in two ways... one is by road and the other is by train. Traveling by road is a very popular choice and it's become a fashion nowadays. It takes around 4 hrs to reach the place from Kolkata by car. From Kolkata, you can reach Mandermony via Kona Expressway, via Mumbai Road to Kolaghat and then Contai then take the Mandermony route. But keep asking the locals about the road directions as the roads are a bit confusing. It will be a short, spicy and hilarious journey with family or friends for sure. After reaching Mandermony, you have to drive almost 4-5 km on the beach itself to reach the resorts area. 

Or you can travel by train also. There are many trains are available for Mandermony from Howrah, Sealdah and Satragachi stations nowadays.. so you have to take any train for Digha. It's better to catch a train early in the morning. It will take hardly 3 hours which is less than the car. The nearest station of Mandermony is Contai. From the Contain station, you have to take the car to reach the destination which can be provided by your previously booked resort.

Where to stay: There are numerous resorts are available here, choose any of these according to your pocket. We stayed at the Golden Beach Resort. A sea-facing resort luxury resort. It is a little bit expensive but it's worth the money. The rooms, accommodation, and services are satisfactory. The sea view from the hotel is mind-blowing.

Activities: Look Mandarmani is a sea beach tourist destination so the beach is the main attraction. Bathing in this crystal clear water will be a wonderful experience for all. You also view the sunrise/ sunset, it is a scenic beauty. Also, you can go to the delta (Mohona) to see the so popular red crabs, as it is one of the focal points of this zone. Tourists also enjoy different water sports like ropeway, beach bikes and many more organized by Rose Valley Resort. There is also a small market run by locals vendors, selling shells, some handicraft goods, and handmade jewelry. Or you can simply roam around on the beach to feel the ambiance of the seashore. If you visit in a full moon night you can enjoy the beauty of the dark blue sea evenly blue sky and the white waves crashing on the silver sand amalgaming in it..., I am sure it will be a phenomenal night for you.

Foods: Seafood is the central attraction of this place. It includes aquatic animals like fish, prone, lobster, crab, etc. You can try the famous red crab curry of this place. Vegetarians also can have many mouths watering dishes here. All the resorts have their restaurants here. So, there will be no scarcity of foods and drinks as long as you keep the money streaming. The food quality of our resort restaurant was pretty good and hygienic.
